Camp Kitchen circa 1909

Before the Dining Room was built…. before the barn, the cabins, the chicken house, Em and Al, with friends, cooked and ate outdoors, alongside a creek, under the trees. As you can see from the picture above, things were relatively primitive.

Today, in camp, we have three camp kitchens, each with a propane gas grill, and separate burners. Cold, running water comes to a sink. Prep surfaces are multi-faceted. Tools for chopping, measuring, stirring, boiling, frying, heating are available. Eating/drinking utensils abound. A 10’ x 10’ x 8’ steel walk-in box with sturdy door holds equipment and food, so that bears and other critters can’t break in to find tasty morsels.

Since we provide breakfast in the Dining Room, your main concern is packing food for lunches and dinners. Packing it correctly in ice chests from the beginning will make your stay on the farm much more enjoyable. Below are links to help you prepare for your adventure in the wild woods of Mendocino County!
