Wreaths and Pizzas Galore!
It couldn’t have been a more beautiful Saturday after Thanksgiving…. freezing cold in the morning, but blue sky and sunshine throughout the rest of the day. People began arriving just before 10am, pruning shears in hand, ready to snip, bundle and clip!
Kashaya and crew made 180 pizzas….. As for how many wreaths…. we can only guess.
Serenaded for a time by John on his fiddle… and an anonymous trumpet player in the hills… it was a day filled with children running and climbing, grandparents telling stories, people of all ages making tremendous wreaths out of greens we gathered from throughout the county, along with branches brought by many from their own and neighbors yards.…. holly, toyon, and snow berries…. greenery of all sorts!
Many too many photos, assuredly…. but I just couldn’t help it! Sean took most of the pictures in this post…. with hundreds left behind!
The pizza, of course, was outrageously good…. with toppings ranging from Cowboy Candy and Cream Cheese, to roasted winter squash with bacon and sausage. Persimmons even figured into a number of them. An unqualified thumbs-up for taste, texture, crust, and creativity!
A very special event that day….. one young woman had her birthday party on the deck! A Red Velvet Cake surrounded by the wreaths they created.
Prana might be trying to instigate a new form of winter elegance……
An outdoor fire was kept going all day long, and into the evening, for warmth and comaraderie.
An amazing event….. incredible volunteers without whom it couldn’t happen. Until next year, when we will again offer a day of Pizza and Wreaths!
