April 13, 2020

First Time in Over 74 Years….

I know that since the Adams Family bought Emandal in 1946, never has the camp been closed for a season.  This year is a first, and I hope the last time we’ll have to take such extraordinary measures, because of so many unknown factors.   Of course, I could rant about the handling of this pandemic by folks “in the know, but who refused to do anything about it….” but that would just be venting, nothing else .

Was Emandal open in 1918 or 1919?  I guess it’s time to look back at the guest registers….  However, this handbill from January, 1919, printed in last week’s edition of The Willits Weekly certainly tells a story:

Masks were de rigueur in January of 1919 in the Town of Willits…. and apparently earlier, in 1918…. just as they are now, April, 2020.  Here’s hoping that they won’t be needed for long… or again!

If you have a deposit with us, it will automatically be transferred to 2021, for next year’s registration, unless you’d like us to send it back.

In the mean time, here’s a link to our flower growing/arranging contest: http://emandal.com/family-camp/the-great-emandal-emulation-of-2020/

We’d love for you to participate!  There are prizes offered!

Soon, we’ll be offering pre-baked wood-fired pizzas at our Willits Farmer’s Market.  Ordering will be done online at our new “store” being set up as I write this.  Here’s more information about KITCHEN DELIVERY.

Needing more jam?  That, too, will be available online through our “GENERAL STORE.”    Give us a week or so to go live… Will’s on the job!  I’ll post again.
