This falls “Soup of the Week” included, among others, Wild Rice Cranberry (some with chicken), Triple Purple Lentil, Beef and Spinach Curry…. and this one, the beginning of African Squash Chowder. Rave reviews for most…. although Kashaya still can’t wrap her taste buds around too many lentils. Malanyon, on the other hand, loves them all!
Summer 2013 was most definitely the Summer of Raspberries! Gallons upon gallons were picked…. all consumed or frozen. The frozen ones are now in jars of jam, awaiting summertime guests. Whether in a traditional multi-layered chocolate birthday cake for 50…. or a one-layered raw cake with blood peaches, raspberries are mighty hard to beat!
One never seems to tire of the platters of tomatoes that get served each lunchtime during most of family camp (I say most, since with school beginning earlier each year, our June guests must satisfy their cravings with gorgeous greens, fresh cinnamon rolls, steaming cups of house-roasted fair-trade coffee and sweet strawberries). Not a huge sacrifice… or so it seems.
