The Basic Qualifications and Expectations are the same for this position as for the others (see “Essential Expectations”). Though Emandal is a farm, we operate primarily as a guest facility from June until the middle of September, and for the rest of the year prepare for this intense season. This is a great job for someone who is not afraid of physical work; who wants a break from school or a sedentary job; who understands the importance of flexibility; can work alone or with just one other person; who has people and computer skills, too!
Seasonal Support Staff – Off Season are integral to the day to day operations at Emandal in the fall, winter and spring. Our Family Camp, Group Rentals and Events programs are centered around food and the kitchen, but rely on having a cozy, comfortable camp experience, too, as well as a farm and forest environment that is accessible and understandable.
Essential to have a vehicle and wet-weather working gear.
Facilities: Trail building/maintenance, fire-wood splitting and stacking, building maintenance. Garden: Flower bed clearing/overhauling, compost building/spreading, seed planting/watering/transplanting, greenhouse maintenance, corn and been hulling
Animals: Feeding and care, egg-gathering
Housekeeping: Making sure cabins are ready for any intermittent off-season habitation, laundry, etc.
Office: Assist with registration and hiring of seasonal staff, taking pictures and posting on social media
Other Projects: Fencing, burning, clearing, stacking, hauling, repairing, labeling jam, painting signs, digging holes, etc.
Minimum $250/week, plus room and food stipend.
40 hours a week; 5 or 5.5 days per week depending upon business needs. Holidays and weekends may be required.
We do not allow overtime for financial reasons, but more importantly, because we want our staff to enjoy the farm amenities and its surroundings to the fullest extent when not working. Our goal is to ensure that working at Emandal is more than just a job – we want each of our staff to have an adventure.
