Found this sign in a sweet little diner on the wharf in Monterey. Fits our staff philosophy to a T! Each year we have some tremendous folks working here. One of our family camp guests has enjoyed them so much that she knits each one an absolutely stunning “chapeau.” They get to select the colors, then she, within a very short time, has finished each and every one….. one to two a day!
However, the chefs hats have been around the farm for years! Our grill crew last summer was top-notch…. even singing as they flipped the freshly milled Great Day Griddle Cakes, fried our just layed farm-fresh eggs and cooked our own sizzling sausage and thickly sliced bacon.
To keep things interesting, a few folks decided to run to town at the end of the season…. which they did, in less than three hours. The thought from several towns people is that we should make it an annual event…. and get people from town to run out here, have breakfast, then run back! Who knows?!
In May, we were honored to host an acapella singing group from Russia, The St. Petersburg Mens Ensemble, who were nice enough to share some of their songs with our school groups. If all goes well, they’ll be back again this spring, to sing in Willits, then recuperate for a couple of days here, on the river.
It’s my staff that allows me to bring various groups out here. The Emandal Chorale came out this fall, for a pizza extravaganza, fresh corn-on-the-cob, delicate new greens and home-made ice cream. I could enjoy singing with them afterwards, cause all the dishes were being whisked away to be washed.
Linden and Magnolia love the attention they get each summer… Soon enough they’ll REALLY be helpful!
