|Wow! Another fantastic summer at Emandal.
A little bit about myself. I’m from Utah where my two awesome children and 3 grandchildren live. I was working at Albertson’s when I received my first massage at the age of 35. It changed my life. I thought if I could make others feel that good, that’s how I would like to serve. So, I started an apprenticeship and working out of a private health spa while taking classes. I also taught swimming and skiing in Utah. Loved it! Two of my favorite sports. I met my husband, Christopher on the slopes.
I moved to California in 1996 to work as a garden intern at Shanoa Retreat Center in Anderson Valley. Shanoa was a sister center to Findhorn in Scotland. While at Shanoa, I was sent as a work exchange to Findhorn, with further travel in England and Wales. What a great life experience! When Shanoa closed, Christopher and I moved to Willits, bought some beautiful land and built a home.
I attended the school of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs to further my massage education and to meet the requirements to practice massage in California. For 6 years, I assisted teaching classes in massage, and my passions – Watsu, Waterdance and Aquatic massage (massage in the water) – with a brilliant teacher, Elaine Marie, who truly inspired my love of serving through massage.
I have a private practice in Willits and have been working at Vichy Hot Springs Resort for 14 years. I love to further my knowledge of the body and massage, including Body Talk and Trigger Point Therapy. I have been blessed to attend beautiful places like Esalen in Big Sur, where I take courses in CranioSacral Therapy and Lymph Drainage. My latest big adventure was assisting teaching massage and taking a Lomi Lomi course at the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork in Kaui, Hawaii. What fun!
It has been my great honor and privilege to practice massage here at Emandal. I love this place – Tam, the family, all you beautiful people who come here, the food, the river, the garden, etc. I am so blessed. I love to be out in nature, hike, swim, travel, ski, jump on my trampoline and sing with Emandal Chorale. I so look forward to sharing with you my love of massage, the skills and techniques I have learned this summer at Emandal, along with the other amazing massage therapists, Yvonne and Anna.
