Dinner in the dining room…. I feel so lucky to have the space in which to host friends and family. This year the weather was relatively warm, and although we had a fire in the wood stove, it probably would have been fine without it. Caught Claudine and Buff before their move to Florida; Christopher and Lucy before leaving for Loma Linda; met Big Bob’s girlfriend, Alison; had a great-great niece join us; and managed to get the “boys” off their bicycles and out of the “big” sandbox long enough to eat something.
Both turkey and ham enticed us…..
…..along with flowers from Brooke and Polly, pie by Kashaya and Magnolia, creamed brussels sprouts, “raw” turkey crudite… and the piece de resistance, Grilled Radiccho with Charred Beets (not everyone felt as I did about this scrumptious dish….
Sam was not the only person doing dishes that day, many jumped in to assist, including Thomas….. but from this vantage point, it looks as if she WAS the only one! Magnolia and Isabelle really hammed it up… and Sarah saved the day when she got the training wheels OFF the little red bike.
Plenty of time to talk, mingle, stroll, discuss, and set up for the timed group photo!
Truly, a wonderful day in the country!
