The Basic Qualifications and Expectations are the same for this position as for the others (see "Employment Expectations")
This person likes to work independently and is a good self motivator, enjoys spending a portion of every work day outdoors (going to and from the clothesline and other destinations) and is flexible and adaptable to a variety of jobs. There will be other staff members to help with many of the tasks listed below, but the Concierge plans and directs housekeeping tasks, and so must both be well organized and able to clearly communicate with the rest of the staff in order to get the job done.
While laundry and cleaning are the Concierge's main responsibilities, they will also do some Kitchen/Food Service work on a more or less daily basis, and some or all of the other duties listed below will also be included, at least occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Housekeeping and Laundry:
- Organize weekly cabin change-over between departure of one group and arrival of the next
- With assistance of other staff, clean and set up camp and cabins on a weekly basis
- With assistance, clean showers and bathrooms in camp, and communal guest restrooms at the main farmhouse
- Laundry, in our outdoor covered laundry room and dried with solar power on the clothes line, from cabins (sheets, towels, etc.) and kitchen (towels and napkins)
- Help organize the "closing down" of camp in late September or October, and put away cabin linens, etc. for winter
- Kitchen and Dining Room:
- Assist kitchen staff in prepping meals when needed-chopping vegetables, washing lettuce, setting up dining room, etc.
- Assist kitchen staff with cleaning kitchen and dining room when necessary
- Other Responsibilities:
- Farm maintenance projects as needed
- Possible assistance with animal chores
Compensation
Minimum $235/week, plus room and board. Tips during Family Camp/Groups.
Work Schedule
40 hours a week. Environmental Ed schedule (April-early June): M-F Family Camp/Group schedule (mid June-mid September): 5.5 days, weekends required
Dates Of Employment
March 30 – Early October (full season)
June-September (summer season)
Preference is given to applicants who can stay for this entire period, but we will still consider applications for shorter time periods. End date in particular may be flexible dependent on needs of the business and staff member.
