The Head Naturalist/EE Director is key to the success of our Environmental Education program. The EE Director is responsible for working with naturalists, teachers, students, and farm staff to ensure that the needs of the program are met. This individual should be a good communicator, flexible, and enthusiastic with a love for the outdoors, natural history, and farm life.

Must have experience working with children in outdoor settings and knowledge of the inner workings of a residential Environmental Education Program. Desired experience-hiring and training naturalists, communicating with teachers and schools, and working with students and teachers in both large groups and one-on-one basis. Experience with curriculum design and improvement is helpful.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Hiring and Training Naturalists
  • Communicating with participating schools in order to create a schedule and communicate needs to others
  • During program times your primary focus is to effectively manage the day-to-day activities of the EE program staff and participants. This will include scheduling, chaperone orientation, leading meals, occasionally teaching activites, and lots of behind the scene activities.

Year round staff will have varied facilities and program maintenance jobs during the off season. This may include--but is not limited to--building projects, firewood collection, animal care, and office support.
