The Basic Qualifications and Expectations are the same for this position as for the others (see "Essential Expectations"). In addition, the Guest Relations / Office Coordinator at Emandal is an organized, customer-service driven individual, who can keep a smile on his/her face no matter what the circumstance. S/he will be relied upon heavily by the Keeper of the Farm and managers as well as guests to help deliver a positive guest experience from pre-arrival to departure. All Emandal staff count on this person to help keep program related operations running smoothly. Computer skills, pleasant telephone presence, adaptability, and creativity are essential. Must be a team player and effective communicator with a sense of humor! Previous front desk experience in a hospitality setting would be ideal.
Main Responsibilities (not in any order):
- Answer phone inquiries, and respond to correspondence by fax, email, and written mail
- Handle guest reservations and payments
- Generate occupancy reports, guest lists, and the like
- Coordinate massage schedules for guests
- Log and ensure guests' requests/needs are met during their stay
- Assist with sales in the camp store
- Prepare weekly and monthly deposit spreadsheets
- Assist with clerical duties of the Environmental Education program
- Distribute mail
- Enroll new staff members
Other Possible Responsibilities (as needed)
- Assist with kitchen (food prep, dishes, dining room clean up, etc.) and housekeeping (laundry; cleaning cabins, bathrooms, office, store, library, etc.) duties
- Animal feeding and care
- Apple and berry picking; pizza topping, ice cream churning
- And various other farm and property maintenance projects
Compensation
Minimum $235/week, plus room and board. Tips during Family Camp/Groups.
Work Schedule
Full time; 40 hours a week:
- Off Season (Mid-October - end of March) & Environmental Ed (April - mid-June): M-F with occasional weekend animal chore duty.
- Family Camp/Group (mid June-mid October): 5.5 days, weekends and holidays required.
Dates of Employment
Year Round; ideally start in January. Preference is given to applicants who can stay for a minimum of 12 months, but we will still consider applications for shorter time periods. End date in particular may be flexible dependent on needs of the business and staff member.
