Easter Egg Benedict

As soon as we heard that Sean and his family would be here on Saturday before Easter, we knew it was time to initiate our staff in the proper art of pizza making.  Malanyon built a fire in the oven, Kashaya made the dough and prepared the toppings………..

and I collected chard, arugula, miner’s lettuce, violet leaves, lemon balm, kale, parsley, chives, calendula blossoms, fennel, johnny jump-ups, rose petals and redbud, for a colorful, nutritious “wild-crafted” salad to accompany the first pizza of the season.  Served with a Parsley Parmesan Dressing….  outrageous!

With all the egg whites left from the sauce, I made a Meyer Lemon Angel Food Cake….. sweet, melt-in-your-mouth extravaganza!

Easter Morning calls for Eggs Benedict!  Our own ham, freshly baked english muffins, poached eggs, and the best darned hollandaise sauce you can find on the planet!  This year, asparagus was plentiful in the garden…. so it, too, became a succulent addition.

New signs for new trails were rendered…. the Easter Egg Tree set up…..

And the newest additions to the farm….. baby geese, or goslings.  Kashaya assures me that Ruby, our guard dog will appreciate them when they’re older.  Truckee, our farm dog, peering though a dirty, dog-pawed window, could care less about them presently….. just another little creature, apparently.  Two weeks hence, they’re at least double this size!
