We’re now accepting workshop proposals for the upcoming season, ArtStays 2018.
- ArtStay I: June 5-9
- ArtStay II: September 10-14
- ArtStay III: September 17-21
Participants and instructors of ArtStay I, 2017, shown above. The June workshop was actually quite chilly and a bit rainy… but inspiration and creativity were abundant.
The succeeding ones, August and September, were warm, pleasant…. with imaginations burgeoning throughout!
Laura Fogg, instructor for “Quilted Landscapes” whose home is in Ukiah, invited her group to meet again in November to share their renditions of a project she assigned. All but Karen, who lives in Washington and sent a photo of her quilt, were scheduled to attend. See the results below! She’s sent out another photo to work on, with results slated for February, potentially.
Our artist friend, Ursula Partch, who teaches felting during ArtStays, allowed a couple of us to invade her Willits studio a couple weeks ago, to create silk/wool scarves. She makes things look so easy…. as does Bobbie, who finished her scarf, then collected up enough materials for three more to work on at home! I was quite content with the ONE I completed!
Another of our ArtStay instructors, Elizabeth Raybee, is moving out of her home in Potter Valley, leaving extraordinary built-in mosaics, including this one she just completed behind her wood stove. She was holding an “art sale” this past weekend, thinking she could divest of her barn full of lovely paintings, drawings, tiles and mosaics. She just doesn’t have the space in her new studio/home on the west side of Ukiah. I tried to help out…. but there’s only so much wall space available in my home….. and I couldn’t uproot her bathroom with sunken tub…. or remove this incredible wall panel!
